Functions as a skilled-level technician who is able to perform diagnoses and repairs in all areas, in addition to being specialized in particular areas of repair
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs the repair.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Additional Duties
• Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines the assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

• Two to four year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and repair instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or industry regulations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read Multi-Meter
REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing skilled movements involved in repair.
Ability to exert heavy physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - preferred but not required
• Heating and Air Conditioning Certification for Commercial Truck
• Hold CDL license or be capable of obtaining a CDL license
• Manual Drive Train and Axle Certification for Auto/Light Truck
• Brakes Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck
• Drive Train Certification for Eaton and Meritor
• State Emission Certification
• State Vehicle Inspector Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Cummins Engine Certification on ISB, ISC & ISX 2150 through 2350
